June Reflection - The Franciscan Calendar 2026
“Pace e Bene!” or “Peace and all Good!” are the first words of greeting from the mouth of St Francis. In a fragmented and fragile world, peace that comes with all round goodness is what our modern souls desire.
As depicted in this image, it is when we choose peace that we become weightless and unburdened, like a bird lifted into the air by the wind. As we take flight, love and joy flows alongside us. Beyond the dove as a symbol of peace, there is also the symbol of the tau cross that Francis adopts as a reminder of his commitment to penance and a life of humility and service to others. Let us also make the active decision to spread our wings and become peacemakers.
Musing: In my life situation today, where and how am I called to breathe forth peace and all round goodness?
